Who We Are

The nursery is a family run business owned by 3 Directors. Lyndsay and Julian Aldridge (Husband and Wife) and Sylvia Dobson.

After opening as Imagine Day Nursery in 2005, we took over the nursery as Over the Rainbow in January 2015 and have made significant changes and improvements to the facilities and services we offer. Our determination to provide the very best standards of care are reflected in our most recent Ofsted report which can be accessed by clicking here.

We pride ourselves on the excellent quality of childcare provided by our team of highly qualified staff, whose dedicated and enthusiastic approach ensures that we have a nursery full of safe happy children.

All about the owners

Lyndsay Aldridge (Sylvia’s Niece)

After becoming a mother I decided to embark on a new career in Early Years by becoming one of the new Owners and Directors at Over the Rainbow Day Nursery. This was very much the start of my journey and since then I have qualified as an Early Years Teacher so that I am now a level 6 qualified person. Qualifying as an Early Years Teacher has proved invaluable to my understanding of early years care and education and to forming my own pedagogical views.

Sylvia Dobson (Aunt to Lyndsay)

For the last 10 years I have been the owner and Manager or a childcare setting in Nottingham. As part of this role I have gained significant experience regarding the standards of care and education which are required within a nursery setting. As part of my own professional development, I have undertaken an Early Years Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies and am now a level 5 qualified person. My passion for childcare is one of the fundamental reasons that we decided to proceed with the new venture of becoming one of the new owners of Over the Rainbow Day Nursery in Ashton-in-Makerfield, which I am the nominated person for.

Julian Aldridge (Lyndsay’s Husband)

Julian has trained and works professionally as a Geologist. His own work has taken him to a number of different countries where he has worked extensively to produce professional reports. Aside from his professional career, becoming a father has assisted Julian in understanding the importance of early education and childcare and from this, he has supported Lyndsay fully in her new career.
